Everything about him screamed his low upbringing. He'd been born to a noble family from some other world, a son of kings, and still he managed to give off the air that he hadn't a solid bone in his body.[1]

Previous holder of the Chatcaavan title of Third . The Emperor's left hand, where Second was his right. Known to have a penchant for cruelty and skilled at slave catching.[1]

Physical Appearance

"Not quite brown nor not quite gray, but some sickly in-between;" also described as "ashen-yellow." Glossy mane, red, new blood colored eyes[1][2]

Biography

Third and his Hand were responsible for capturing Bethsaida Emil Galare and her Malarai and Tam-illee companions. As a reward, the Emperor gave them use of the Imperial Harem, with the permission to kill one of his females there, Flower.[1]

Third first met Lisinthir Nase Galare when his transport ship rendezvoused with the shuttle carrying Lisinthir out of Alliance space. He was surprised at Lisinthir's rejection of the bordello-like room on the transport, but did transfer him to more austere quarters. Third attempted to pass off his negotiations with Lisinthir to his Hand, but Lisinthir refused this, insisting on dealing with the decision-makers directly.[1]

Third was tasked with bringing Bethsaida Emil Galare to the Emperor, but his attempts to do so shocked her into catatonia with a bare touch. The Emperor punished him for daring to touch his "toy" without permission. When the public use of Bethsaida was planned, Third was excluded from his usual place guarding the Emperor's throne and consigned to guarding the spaceport because he had displeased the Emperor with his overstepping and potentially damaging Bethsaida.[1]

During the slave escape planned by Lisinthir Nase Galare and the Slave Queen, Third and his Hand were distracted by Moon and Black Rose in the bathing room of the Queen's suite, rather than guarding the landing pad as ordered.[1]

In the aftermath, Third was accused of the unauthorized used of four members of the Imperial Harem, and the killing by his Hand of Sun's Kindness. The Emperor fought him to submission, and broke off two horns: the minimum humiliation, but still more than a dead female would normally merit. Third was then sent away on assignment, to give him an opportunity to win himself back into the Emperor's favor.[2]

When he returned, Lisinthir accused him of having deliberately broken the border treaties and encroached on Alliance space. His usual claim that the records were fakes did not hold water anymore, and Lisinthir used his inability to explain convincingly to wring concessions from Second. When Third complained to the Emperor, the Emperor simply asked why Third had been caught encroaching.[2]

Third later sought to gain the Emperor's favor again by producing sixteen alien slaves, some of whom he had already raped before delivering them. He instructed the Queen to hide the evidence of their use so that the Emperor would not know of his trespass, but instead she instructed the Master of the Preparation Room to enhance those wounds. The Emperor was displeased.[2]

Later, a drunk Third and his Hand invaded the Imperial Harem, without permission of the Emperor. The Queen attempted to send them off by pointing out that they had no permission, but Third decided to rape her first. His Hand attempted to stop him as the Emperor would no doubt punish such a transgression with death. She was successful in sending him off--due in part to the Hand attempting to pull him away--but he promised her a slow death.[2]

Ultimately, Lisinthir challenged Third to a duel. Third attempted to dodge this by appealing to the Emperor that an alien had no right to challenge, but the Emperor did not back him. Lisinthir killed him quickly, shredded his wings, and broke off all of his horns. He then quickly dispatched Third's Hand as well.[2]

Trivia

  • Though Second outranks him in importance, their role are autonomous. Both take direction from the Emperor.[2]
  • Enjoys killing females and slaves under his power; this is considered gauche, as it is seen as a lack of self-control to break your "toys."[1]

Quotes

  • "She is just a wingless freak, Exalted. There are more like her to be found."[1]
