			* Landing One was the first established city, and Landing Port has high ceilings crossed with gray girders (no windows). "Landing had been built when humans had been lucky to reach Mars, much less cling there."<ref name="er-02" />

The custom of selling tiles to fund the maintenance and rebuilding of Mars's habitats and ports is as old as its colonization. The coveted Founders' Stones require having proof of continuous residency since the emancipation, plus a considerable sum to pay into the pot. <ref name="rph-04" />

Some families still follow the post-war Martian practice of all-female families; they send away for an anonymous sperm sample and have daughters only. Seven generations of the Eddings family have lacked a father. <ref name="rp-01">''[[Rose Point (Fiction)\| Rose Point]]'', Part One</ref>
