Quotes

  • "You said I wasn’t afraid—that was why. There was little left in me to be afraid. Only sad, that I had been given a life, and then nothing to do with it… nothing but wither in the service of a cruel and hollow male. Yes. Hollow is the right word. There was nothing in him, and so he kept filling himself with things he stole from others." [3]
  • "I have known so much comfort in my life, for which I have paid nothing. Even the service to which I was relegated as a lesser and menial has given me nothing but contentment.... and you, for which there is no payment great enough. Our Queen asks me to make a sacrifice--to reject that request would be to show my ingratitude for all I have. Indeed, it is... it is a small sacrifice, in comparison to what I have received. I blush to accept because it is the least of what I should do." [1]

Trivia

  • keeps a diary given to him by the Twelveworld Lord
  • uses 'sir' with the Twelveworld Lord at the latter's request, but also uses 'my-better' when he feels it more appropriate
  • rode a horse for the first time on Escutcheon, when the Queen Ransomed learned to ride[1]
