Geography

Qufiil is a brightly colored, temperate double planet. It is heavier, warmer, and brighter than our world with a white star instead of yellow. It has no moon, as Quafiirla (being the smaller of the bodies) would have become its moon had it not fallen into closer orbit. The Preserve's climate is more like Quzen's; Quapendai is brighter and less humid. They share the same fauna and flora, but the specimens on Quapendai are usually smaller and not as brightly colored.

Flora

The trunks of common trees on Qufiil are bright reddish-orange and brilliant bluish white with leaves that are bright green or purple. The grass is green with bluish tinges, making it seem lush and well-watered. Very few things are brown, or gray...the earth itself ranges in color from black to red, usually a burgundy-orange sort of color; the beaches are white, yellow, or dark red and the seas are brilliant blue to bluish-green. Plants usually sport bright green, blue, or purple leaves, and flowers are bright and of every color. The sky is blue, like ours, but usually paler.

  • apaiziin, a climbing vine with white and blue blossoms
  • fiirlaz, a flower that yields petals for eating
  • jaiznii, a flower used to make delicate syrups for drinking

Fauna

The Faulfenza brought many native species from Quzen to Qufiil. Fauna on Quzen were usually large, bristle-toothed, long-haired, dark animals, heavy with muscle.

  • baunepe, pack hunters[1]
  • darnanii, flies
  • duriizi, a small owl-like bird that hunts at night, and eats beetles and flies
  • feziizu, a sea raptor
  • iifaul, a hunting predator, large, black (brought from Quzen)
  • naadiize, some kind of animal good for eating (quiet, lives in holes in the ground, maybe something like a gopher)
  • penuzii, like a hedgehog, but that lies flat instead of rolling up to expose its needles
  • piipiizauq, a jellyfish-like creature that stinks when it washes up on the beach
  • serdu, deer-like grazers, herd animals[1]
  • zelii, a beetle that stings

Government and Politics

Quafiirla or The Preserve, was colonized by a section of people called the Preservers; the other planet, Quapendai, by the Seekers.

Quapendai

Technologically advanced, with sleek ships and clean cities; they learned their lessons about pollution and overuse on Quzen. The Seekers are dedicated to finding the Others and the Lost Kin; they have no military, but only a scientific body that crews their fleet of exploratory vessels. The only "weapons" on these vessels are for dealing with debris, since the Faulfenza have never warred with each other, or anyone else.

The person who is in charge of Quapendai is the Qufiilzafir, or First Favored Dancer.

Quafiirla

The planet where the old ways are preserved. Faulfenza born on Quafiirla might choose to spend time on the Seeker's Side (usually for their young adulthood)... but their fosterage is not compulsory. The technological youth of Quapendai are strongly pressured to spend their adolescence on Quafiirla to develop a sense of their traditions and history. This period lasts about twenty years, from their fortieth year until their sixtieth.

The Fenazafir, or OverDancer, oversees Quafiirla, and is always an old male to balance the youth and female energy of the Qufiilzafiir of the Seeker's Side.
