Alysha's assignment as a lieutenant. A Paradox-class battlecruiser.
Officer's Club
Each battlecruiser or warcruiser has its own uniquely-themed officer's club. The Songlance's is simply named "The Officer's Club." It's "all rich carpets and dark wood furniture, rubbed to a high sheen with polish." It overlooks the park adjoining the rec hall. Said park has a joggers' track. Has peanuts on the table, to Mike Beringwaite's disdain.. Serves beer flights.[1][2]
Water Environment
See also Battlecruiser Water Environments.
The aquatic crew complement consists of five Naysha (two in navigation, two in sciences, one in engineering), and four Platies. This is considered a small number of Platies, but Hood, the primary Platy navigator, is unconcerned by it.[3]
On the Songlance, a commander's cabin abuts the water environment on one side, with windows facing the water; this can be used by the alien liaison despite that position being held by a lieutenant. The cabin provides living space for the Flitzbe inhabitants of the Songlance, including their sun lamp.[4]
Galley
Has an ordinary ship's galley, which Valery sometimes sneaks into to make dumplings (and then is put to work).[1]
