Flitzbe are a mysterious "true alien" species encountered by the Pelted. Flitzbe are round and covered in neural fiber fur that changes color to express mood and emotions. Flitzbe can also communicate through mental images and impressions transferred via touch.
Flitzbe do not have mouths, arms, legs, or eyes. Flitzbe eat by absorbing sunlight, and reproduce by budding.
In Fleet, Flitzbe are sometimes used in medplexes[1], where they provide emotional comfort and soothing dreams. On the UAV Songlance, the resident Fliztbe clod stayed in the same room as the liaison to aliens, which also contained their sun lamp.[2]
