Overview

The average Pelted lifespan is around 120 years, with individuals living closer to modern medical facilities making it into the late 130s.

Telomere extension has a diminishing return; after a few treatments, it needs to be re-administered so frequently it becomes impractical. No one is sure why.

History

At the time of the gengineering of the Pelted on Earth, humans were living around 120 years. Medical technology hadn't extended human life--individuals were making it to their 120s before modern medicine. What technology did succeed in doing was improving quality of life, so that humans were vigorous for longer. This carried over into the making of the Pelted.
