Alysha meets the Eldest

The last egg-laying member of the Octopi species at the time of Either Side of the Strand.

Physical Characteristics

The Eldest is enormous by Pelted standards: even when not entirely surfaced out of the water, her body is at least thirty feet tall, and her limbs are thicker than the pylons of a Paradox Class Battlecruiser's Well drive.

Communication

Like all Octopi, the Eldest communicates with waterborne chemicals and thoughts, in multiple layers of feelings, colors, sounds, smells, tastes, and images. Her communications are noticeably more dense and layered than those of most other Octopi.
