History
The Faulfenza did not evolve on this world, but fled there after the destruction of their last world, Quzen.
Geography
The solar system contains an asteroid belt and two small planetoids in farther orbits, both without atmosphere. The fourth planet is a gaseous one, nebulous blue and acid-green striations, and has a blue moon named the Eye of the Iifaul. Not sure how many planets total in the solar system.
Qufiil is a brightly colored, temperate double planet. This is a true double world system and will eventually tear itself apart. It is heavier, warmer, and brighter than Earth with a white star instead of yellow. It has no moon, as Quafiirla (being the smaller of the bodies) would have become its moon had it not fallen into closer orbit. The Preserve's climate is more like Quzen's; Quapendai is brighter and less humid. They share the same fauna and flora, but the specimens on Quapendai are usually smaller and not as brightly colored. There's also a permanent aurora between the two planets, which the Faulfenza claim was Faulza's mark, guiding them to this world from Quzen.
Tidal Locking
The worlds are tidally locked, and there are frequent earthquakes and seismic disturbances on the facing sides. The orbital period is about a day, which puts the worlds at a distance of about geosynchronous orbit. At this distance, each planet is about 300 times larger than Earth's moon, and much brighter than a full moon on earth.
The far side would look a lot like Earth's day cycle (without a moon). Very clear, dark skies.
The near side would have two nights: a long bright night after sunset (with a brief extra dark period around midnight), and a dark one at about noon, for an hour or so.
- Noon: Very dark, because the sun is eclipsed by the other planet. (Maybe even darker than night, depending on where you're standing)
- 3pm ish: The planet is at quarter phase, the sun is out of eclipse.
- 6pm: Planet is at half phase; this is twilight
- 9 pm: Planet is at three quarter phase, very bright and high in the sky
- Midnight: Planet is eclipsed (by the sister planet), which gives us lunar-eclipse-like light levels (dark)
- 3 am: Three quarter phase again, the planet is glowing, having emerged from eclipse
- 6 am: Planet is at half-phase (bright!) and the sun is rising.
- 9 am: Planet is at quarter phase, but looks like the moon during the day with the sun washing it out.

Flora and Fauna
Flora
The trunks of common trees on Qufiil are bright reddish-orange and brilliant bluish white with leaves that are bright green or purple. The grass is green with bluish tinges, making it seem lush and well-watered. Very few things are brown, or gray...the earth itself ranges in color from black to red, usually a burgundy-orange sort of color; the beaches are white, yellow, or dark red and the seas are brilliant blue to bluish-green. Plants usually sport bright green, blue, or purple leaves, and flowers are bright and of every color. The sky is blue, like ours, but usually paler.
- apaiziin, a climbing vine with white and blue blossoms
- fiirlaz, a flower that yields petals for eating
- jaiznii, a flower used to make delicate syrups for drinking
Fauna
The Faulfenza brought many native species from Quzen to Qufiil. Fauna on Quzen were usually large, bristle-toothed, long-haired, dark animals, heavy with muscle.
- baunepe, pack hunters[1]
- darnanii, flies
- duriizi, a small owl-like bird that hunts at night, and eats beetles and flies
- feziizu, a sea raptor "he flies on the highest winds, and comes from the sea"
- iifaul, a hunting predator, large, black (brought from Quzen)" It walked on four legs and was black like the Preserve’s nightfall, so much darker than nights at Paidiiza. The creature had a face like hers, but longer, flatter, and (as she saw when it opened its mouth), with far more, and larger, fangs. At the shoulder it was almost as tall as Zafiil herself."(currently page 147 part 1)
- naadiize, some kind of animal good for eating (quiet, lives in holes in the ground, maybe something like a gopher or (squirrel?)), can be stewed.
- penuzii, like a hedgehog, but that lies flat instead of rolling up to expose its needles
- piipiizauq, a jellyfish-like creature that stinks when it washes up on the beach
- sea-net, 142 part 1. On the less tech world, catches drifting food. " catches everything going by and then she eats it for lunch!”
- serdu, deer-like grazers, herd animals[1]
- zelii, a beetle that stings
Government and Politics
Quafiirla or The Preserve, was colonized by a section of people called the Preservers; the other planet, Quapendai, by the Seekers.
