Ships and Ship Technology
The Faulfenza call using Wellspace "traversing the Silence."[1]
The Willseeker is one of a small number of experimental military vessels developed in response to the predations of pirates. "We have borrowed the Duster design from you, but the weapons systems we designed ourselves."[1] The Duster is operated via a discrete system which interfaces with our computers by passthrough. That system was installed by Alliance engineers."
Layout
- The bridge of a Faulfenzair ship is known as the fore. The captain (Faulfiirla) stands at a command column in its center. The stations on the fore are also accessed by standing columns. The area around the central column might have its own gravity.
- Ships have a place-of-Dancing, made from soil imported from Qufiil.[2]

Shipboard Culture
For most of their history, the Faulfenza do not have anything that could be called a navy; they do have a fleet of exploratory and near-space vehicles, however, which constitutes the majority of their vessels.
- "...the crew went about their routines, one of which was the twice-daily Dance: a morning prayer, and an evening performance from the Greater and Lesser Wisdom Scroll rotation. The evening Dances were synchronized to the calendar on Qufiil, linking them to their homeworld, and though as Emissary Zafiil was considered the ship’s most trained Dancer, every Faulfenzair Danced, and every Faulfenzair did: two new people a day, moving through the entire crew, until they came around to the head of the roster again."[2]
Standard Exploration Crew
- Faulfiirla (Emissary) - analogous to a combination of captain and diplomat
- Faulpendai (ShipMinder) - executive officer
- Pilot
Faulfenzair Medicine
- A plant based medicine, chewed and digested, that helps them tolerate lower gravity environments. Best digested over the course of a week.[3]
- Medicines are frequently derived from plants.[3]
