This page is a stub I intend to populate with stuff. (Feel free to categorize it!)

Link here to Criminal Activities

Just look through all the books for 'law' and 'crime' and see what people have said about it and dump it here until you've got enough data to organize.

Interplanetary

  • "Fleet’s jurisdiction is interplanetary piracy," NotAgain said. "In order to claim criminals on planets, we need either permission from the planetary authorities or evidence of space piracy."[1]
  • Also NotAgain: "Until he either says something ridiculous in our hearing or transfers the full amount to you in acceptance for the contraband with both of you knowing full well what you’re delivering, we don’t have enough evidence to demand extradition."[1]
  • "It is Fleet’s mission to investigate piracy and criminal activity that crosses borders," ‘Star said. "I will not meet with any legal issue for doing basic detective work, arii."[2]

Planetary

  • "Was it some disease, as the possibility of a medical emergency suggested? Or some new violence more suited to the police’s intervention? He wondered what that intervention would look like; at home, there had been constables, deputized by the lords and ladies to which a town owed allegiance, but there was nothing so formal as a police force. The Eldritch were not so numerous as to need one, and the custom of dueling had supplied an outlet for the aggrieved to seek redress personally—or to decide the insult was not sufficient to the threat of dying. It was not a perfect system, but he was beginning to think there was no such thing."[3]
  • Vasiht'h mentions "the city police" while in Heliocentrus (implying there's a non-city police).[4]
  • "Heliocentrus’s police department has one of the best drug trafficking groups in the Core."[5]

Solar System

Various types of system defense fleets go here.

  • Homeguard (Harat-Sharii)
  • The Chalice one, which I've named (look that up)

Jurisdiction of Planetary Forces

  • "We’re hoping with Fleet helping us with the crack-down outside the orbitals, we’ll be able to catch this one coming in." Celvef, mentioning the interface with Fleet and the Heliocentrus port, for drug running.[6]
