Geography and Layout

At the time of Juzie's and Ran's betrothal, the Seni village consisted, by Vasiht'h's count, of about twenty dilapidated buildings and a few hovels,[1] clustered around a weed-choked lane, with a crude well in the middle.[2]

When Juzie and Ran visit with Vasiht'h's nephews, just before Lisinthir's children are born, every building has been repaired, there's either a new church or its steeple has been restored, and the cleared lane meanders to a town common with a fountain.[2]

Notable Places

Church

The tithing shed is adjacent to the church on the church property. While such sheds are commonly used to store the tithe due the lady from the villagers, in Seni (as in many villages in the pro-Alliance Houses), it's where goods from the lady are stored for distribution to the villagers.

Candy shop

Located at the edge of the village. There is a bell over the door.[2] Historically, it carried:[1]

  • Pynade: a hard round candy made of nuts, honey, and spices.
  • Eldritch marzipan fancies (chewy, not hard), shaped like swans and leaping fish
  • Sugared leaves and nuts

The Glaseah added to its repertoire:[2]

  • Milkshakes

Sehvi's clinic

Located in a previously-abandoned cottage in the middle of the village. Melis helps maintain the place, and provides seasonally-appropriate decorations. The front room has a table and a hearth, and there's a hall leading to a back room.[3]

Taren's "Shack"

The "oldest Eldritch" Joreht has ever seen lives out of town and "not many people want to hike up there." He makes elixirs and tonics, and knows the best plants and what conditions they can be used for.[4] The villagers have been known to visit him for medical aid.

Customs

  • has a weekly market, once Ingleside gets set up.[5]
