Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.

This is the largest ship type that still has a single-level bridge.
Crew Complement
The Captain of the vessel is considered the head of the Tactical department, and the First Commander the head of Logistics. Courier crews are so small the rank tree is depressed, and in some cases, no rank ladder exists; the two security personnel report to the first commander, for instance. In practice, courier crews are informal, and their crew distribution is idiosyncratic; some ships might be heavy on science personnel, others on tactical or security, all depending on that particular ship's assignment.
Couriers are too small to carry medical chiefs. (The next largest ship class, the scout, does.)
