Appearance and Personality
- Built upon the typical Eldritch lines (slender, white hair), but shorter than average. Probably about 5'10" based on her being a head shorter than Jahir (6'6")
- Orange eyes
- Prefers to dress in trousers, boots, blouse and horseback riding-style coats in browns and darker blues
- Voice is a soprano [1]
- Unbound, hair reaches below her knees, implied longer than Lisinthir's [2]
Biography
Was Nuera's heir. Got disinherited after going on an unauthorized-by-her-mom jaunt to the Alliance. Spent "some decades" [3] out there, earned a degree in agronomy, went to work in the fields. Got tapped by Amber Seni Galare because of her involvement with Whole Galactic Charities in his attempt to rehome the Chatcaava fleeing the coup; this led to her accepting Liolesa's offer to become Ambassador ad'Alliance for the Eldritch. (She still holds this position, as far as I know.) Briefly became a pirate queen; survived the war and married Jahir and became Crown Princess.
Family
- Daughter of Thesali Nuera Galare and Haladir Delen Galare
- Wife of Jahir Seni Galare
- Mother of twins Adaise and Raenor
She was married to Jahir at the Seni manse, outside, by Liolesa and Val as officiating priestess and priest, in a traditional Eldritch ceremony (though the bride wore white, like a tenant, rather than her House colors). The troth cloth was blue fading to white at the center; on one side, an embroidered cluster of grape vines and rose blossoms for Sediryl, who had come from the most fertile of the Eldritch’s lands, and on the other, stars and a caduceus, for Jahir, who had gone offworld to learn to heal. In the pale center, a fireburst for them both, flowered mind-mages. [4]
She is supportive of all of her husband's relationships: "I would rather you ask this wife if she'd like to watch? But if you don't want me to, I'm not going to object, though I won't lie about being disappointed because the two of you are beautiful. [...] I love the way you look at him. And the way you look at Vasiht'h. And... it's nothing like how you look at me." [5]
Quotes
"Keep your enemies closer, ah?"
"The closer they are, the easier they are to burn."
-Maia and Sediryl
"Is he taken, then?" - To Lisinthir, watching his reunion with Jahir. (To which Lisinthir replies that he's just "a friend with extravagant benefits.") [6]
"Goddess, is this how Liolesa sees everything? ‘Yes, that’s nice; also, politics.’" [7]
"All Eldritch are my people. That's the reason I had to come, and why I always will, unless Lord and Lady hold me back." [8]
"So many people hurt.So many people dead. So many people suffering, still in cages on the pirate base. Sediryl cried for them, and for the mess she'd made of an intolerable situation; she cried because there were no tidy solutions, because she couldn't see a universe where anyone could have avoided the mess of it. She cried because she felt she should have done better, and because there is not 'better' possible. All of her choices had been bad, and though her best had been enough (,) she would never stop blaming herself for it still being awful." [9]
In the bathroom, Sediryl thought of the Queen's casual comment. *It afflicted the Ambassador Terribly. Being raped."* Tried to imagine her cousin Lisinthir, dangerous cousin Lisinthir who had emitted that effortless confidence and veiled aggression, being... raped? By whom? She grimaced and met her own eyes. "He survived," she whispered to herself. "I'll survive. Not only that, I'll *win*." [10]
- Narritive quote (I know there is a protocol for these I just forgot it)
- Sediryl would go into it without chang in routine, because while she was not actively atheistic, she never assumed divine powers wold poke their noses into anyone's normal life. Vasoht'h knew better and Jahir did too. Farmer's Crown
Trivia
- Enjoys eating and can eat even under stressful conditions
- Knows how to play cat's cradle, but hates to knit (she can, but badly)
- Knows how to drive various aircars, and enjoys it [11]
- Likes hibiscus tea: Hyera once painted her a picture with it, and then used the remainder as body paint on her.
- Does not like lavender-flavored baked goods. (Doesn't mind the smell, but eating it is "a bridge too far.") [12]
- Used to have dreams about being late when she was a girl [4]
- Sediryl often now says "Powers" (rather than "Goddess and Lord" like other female Eldritch). She's still unsure about her belief in any divinities, but this way she feels that both the Faulfenzair god and the Chatcaava's Living Air are included. [13]
- Did not come back from her investment vigil with anything notable.
Body Language
- Fidgets a lot
- Tilts her head when listening to a telegem
Personal Accoutrements/Significant Possessions
- An amulet rampant from Jahir and Lisinthir
- A troth ring from Jahir bearing the Galare unicorn
- A ring from the Queen Ransomed
- A solidigraph dog named Bells and Whistles, a gift from Hyera
- A solidigraphic/holographic enhanced robot horse (noted as 'Glitterhorse'), solidigraphic, a gift from Hyera see illo at top.
Names
What people call her:
- Milk name: Sedi [14][15] (Haladir Delen Galare calls her this).
- Qora Paunene Zela calls her "Princess" even when she isn't yet, the very first time they speak. [16]
- The Queen Ransomed calls her "sister", and refers to her as "my sister". [17]
- Jahir calls her "my heart" or just "heart". [18]
- Liolesa often calls her "niece". Also sometimes "Nuera", but that's mostly early on, before she's even the incipient heir.
- Jerent Mysfeldt is doubtless not alone in addressing her as "my lady". [3]
- Vasiht'h calls her "ariishir" by the time they're approaching the wedding. [19]
What she calls people:
- In PG3, her monarch requests: "Cousin. Call me Liolesa." [20] Later on, Sediryl mostly addresses Liolesa as "aunt". [21]
- She calls Vasiht'h "arii" when they first speak on the pirate base. [16] She's also on "arii" terms with Reese. [22]
- She often calls Jahir "love". [18]
Title:
- After putting the crowns on their heads, Liolesa presents them as "Sediryl Galare, the imperial heir, and her husband, the Prince-Consort Jahir Galare." They're inducted as mind-mages as "Healing Mage Jahir Galare, Prince-consort" and "Fire Mage Sediryl Galare, heir-imperial". [23] This implies that her title, such as it is, is "imperial heir" or "heir-imperial", but this will doubtless often get simplified to Princess.
