Firilith (House)

Corel's house/demesne. Defunct (the territory was left partially within Asaniefa territory and partially abandoned), though some still bear the name and quite possibly the blood (cough cough hi Val).

At a Glance

This is where I put the former heraldry for Firilith, which is probably an ice deer.

Geography and Landmarks

The province that was Firilith is south of what was deeded to Reese with Laisrathera, but Rose Point, the castle, is sited in Firilith which means the new capital of Laisrathera is actually in what was once Firilith (which explains why the inhabitants continue to use the name). As such, Rose Point, Forecourt, and the town of Acorn are all, properly, part of Firilith.

Firilith encompasses the northern (sandy, but cold) beaches of the coast, some northern forests, and is bordered by a river on the south and western ends. The river is fed off a lake in the northwest (which is part of the Laisrathera land grant), which in turn is fed from the northwestern mountains. The climate is cold and damp, with storms in the fall and winter months, and pleasant, temperate weather in the warmer seasons.

The Firilith Burial Mound

A large chunk of the cliff had been scooped away, leaving a floating green island within eyeshot, but without path save for a bridge. On the other side of the bridge, the ‘mound’ was nothing of the sort. Six sarcophagi had been set in a row, three on either side of a path leading to a small stone building—a shack, really, except that nothing constructed so deliberately could possibly be called one. Especially since the door was neither wood nor rock, but a modern material. It is opened with an anachronistic key set into a lock.

Inside there is another sarcophagus (Corel's). A holograph in the back is activated by the entrance of people, of Elsabet: "young, and lovely, and her expression was stern and yet suggested anguish." Her appearance also wakes dim lights along the join at floor and wall, and wall and ceiling.[1]

“Corel saved us, and all that mattered to the Queen was that he would have made a better monarch than she. But I have recorded this imperishable record so that his noble sacrifice will never be forgotten. One day, Firilith will be ruled again by a worthy liege, and on that day I expect the memory of Corel to surface and be cleared of its dishonor. I will not see that day. But it must come, for as God and Goddess are my witness, all injustice one day will perish beneath Their divine mandate, that truth alone must flourish in despite of evil’s attempts to suffocate it. “I am Elsabet, once Galare, no more. To history I commend my words. Do not forget!”[1]
