Daize Oodenii Pera
Sediryl's brief Faulfenzair friend, the Faulpendai of the ship Willseeker, who was lost during the war.
Appearance and Personality
A warm dark gray in color, with creamy ventrals lined with wine red fur, and her eyes were violet. She wore what seemed like a uniform: black, like Fleet’s, but edged in red and orange. [1]
Biography
Early Life
Born to parents who told her about the dangers of the Others, she went to the Hearth to train, in part, to help the Faulfenza not be prey to them. She was roomates at the university with Qora, and later recommended him as potential crew for the Willseeker.
The Willseeker
Daize is the Faulpendai--the ShipMinder, or second in command--of one of the Faulfenza's first armed military-style vessels. "...the Willseeker was among a small number of experimental military vessels we have devel-oped in response to the predations of pirates, who are more typical on this side of your border. They do not trouble us near our worlds, but to allow them to strengthen has been deemed perilous."[1]
When Sediryl was given a chance to rescue one Faulfenzair from the pirate cages, Kamaney chose Qora rather than Daize. Sediryl paused, and in that pause, Daize met her eyes and shaped the words: 'say yes.'[2] Consequently, Sediryl didn't fight Kamaney's decision, and Daize was "sent to the sales centers", and was not among the Faulfenza rescued by Sediryl before she departed.[3] Daize told Qora what she knew about Sediryl, which prepared him to help her when he was released to her care: "And I observe that you needed me more than you needed Daize, and she knew it too."[2]
