Seersana University
The university Vasiht'h and Jahir attended on Seersana.
History
Preceded Karaka'A's prestigious institute as the first in the Alliance, with a renowned medical college that was established out of necessity, as part of the Pelted's efforts to address their genetic flaws. Its xenopsychology school is also the oldest in the Alliance. [1] Seersana University's average student population is between fifty and sixty thousand people a year. [2]
Site
In the part of Seersana with marked seasons, with a cold winter with snow and cold rain, and distinct autumns and springs, and hot summers. It's set within the boundaries of the capital of Seersana, Kavakell.[3]

Calendar
Weeks are 10 days long, with 34 weeks per year. "Up-week" is the first 5 days, "down-week" the last five.
- Spring (Semester 1): 90 days long, with midterms at 45 days in
- Summer (Intersession): 60 days long (no midterms typically)
- Leap "week" is 4 days off and happens in the second month of summer, during the Intersession
- Winter (Semester 2): 90 days long, midterms at 45 days
Landmarks and Features
Central Campus
- The University Administration building, which has a grand plaza in front of it. [4]
- Humanities building, which is next to a hedge maze sized for typical Pelted, (which means only about five feet tall)[5]
Pad Stations
Scattered across campus, these allow the quick transit of students (or emergency service personnel) from one side of the university to the other. To discourage their overuse, Pad transits incur fees. Stations are small and designed to look like other buildings in the area. [6]
Temple Hill
A semicircular hill (artificial), surrounded with old trees that drape the buildings. The path to it leads to a pedestrian roundabout in a depression that does a circuit of the hill, and from this central path smaller ones lead up to the banks where many different shrines and temples have been erected to serve the various religious needs of student and staff population. It has many different architectural styles, sitting subplot by subplot, united by the trees.[7] Not every religion is represented (there are too many), but the major ones.
- siv't for Glaseah: shrine of black stone, polished smooth; the altar is made of the same, and the panel behind it with the Goddess's face in profile, blowing the breath of life from her lips. Incense is left on the altar, and the overhead windows are usually open.[8]
- Iley's shrine: slanted roof with skylights, and the light falls in on a central fountain. A stained glass window in the back of Iley the laughing god, hands spread and ears pricked[7]
Arts Campus
Is near a street of quaint shops, including the gelato shop.[6] This market area is often used by artists from the nearby arts buildings: they like to hold impromptu concerts there, or dances, and there are several galleries there they can use (and some studio spaces as well).
- several student concert halls, of various sizes; most are capable of projecting behind the cast, high enough to be seen by the audience [9]; one of the larger ones is a short walk from the gelateria. [9]
- music college, which is surrounded by outdoor gardens where students like to practice, outside [10]
- theater building has outdoor installation: pinwheels that glimmer, and in the dark, they blaze like fire when they spin [5]
Business School
- has an amazing outdoor restaurant [5]
Engineering School
- has a pool stocked with softly glowing fish the length of a thumb, accessorized with dim, colored lights set into the surrounding pavement that rippled on and off in patterns like waves under moonlight [5]
Medical Campus
- Administration, Medical; has mosaics depicting all the homeworlds of the Alliance[11]
- Medical Student Center (has a restaurant at the top) [12]

- Nursing Hall (pharmacology classes are often scheduled here) [13]

- Seersana General Hospital, the teaching hospital attached to the university; takes a full complement of students every semester. [16]. It is adjacent to the Children's Hospital.

Student Housing
In addition to facilities on campus, the Housing Department maintains apartment complexes at the university's edges for returning students, or students with families. [17]
Jahir and Vasiht'h's Apartment
The residential apartment that Vasiht'h and Jahir live in. Vasiht'h had a previous roommate who graduated. He invited Jahir to live there after meeting him near the Seersana University Children's Hospital.
