History
Geography
"Armin watched the capital scroll past and his impression of it was overwhelmingly that it was tall, clean, and pale… much like the people who inhabited it. White stone roads, white stone buildings, pennants snapping in the sea breeze, fountains splashing, the spires of an enormous cathedral, the sound of its bells tolling the quarter hour. Pedestrians, far less numerous than in any Alliance city, and walking much farther apart. No trash anywhere, or filth, despite the occasional horse-drawn vehicle that trotted past them, and the roads were broad enough for three of those abreast but Armin saw almost none. Single riders were more common, though ‘common’ was misleading. He wouldn’t have characterized it as a bustling city. More like… a serene one. Or an empty one. It was hard not to inhale the cleanliness of the wind, unmarred by any of the expected smells of close habitation, and not wonder whether the entire place was an illusion."[1]
