The third homeworld settled by the Pelted, and the fourth world (the first three being Seersana, Karaka'Ana, and Selnor, in that order), Asanao touchdown was two years after the signing of the Accords that established the Alliance, and a year after the development of the Well Drive.

Geography

One moon.

Government and Politics

The President of Asanao always has three counselors; one is an elected official, and the other two are the High Priest and High Priestess of Niiana.

Colonies

One of Asanao's first colonies, also primarily populated by Asanii, had a few specific ethnic groups, members of which formed the backbone of the initial population of Gledig.[1]

Landmarks

  • Ward Culinary Academy - A cooking school with an Alliance-wide reputation, with trials for scholarships. There are archives of past wins of the competition (and partial scholarships). "It's very hard to get into Ward." [2]

Religion

The major religion created by the first Asanii, and that is most broadly established on their homeworld, is the worship of the Niiana, the balance between sun and distant stars, female (Nii) and male (Ana), the harmony between opposites. The priesthoods are so distinct they are almost (but not quite) separate religions, and as the centuries have ground on have begun to separate more and more as communities despite their congregations continuing to consider them the same religion. This has created an odd dichotomy between worshippers and priests, and the clergy have shrunk since the early days of their settlement.

Symbols

  • Nii: Must be priestesses; colors are white/beige, and gold; sun; temples are ziggurat-style with sharp angles, and tend to be tall.
  • Ana: Must be priests; colors are dark blue/gray with silver; stars (or sometimes the moon); short, smooth, curved temples and shrines, that tend to be understated.
